The Elementary Study of Gold
Gold - the yellow metal that is noble and not corruptible, is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
"Having eyes, see you not?" (Mark 8:18).
Gold Throughout the Bible
1,400 years before Christ, God revealed His plan for man’s redemption in the design of His tabernacle.
Hebrews 9: 8-9 NIV
8The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way [the curtain] into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was standing.   9This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being  offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.
Matthew 27: 50-51 NIV
50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.   51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.   The earth shook and the rocks split.
Exodus 36:34 The Frame:
The silver (our redemption) that was all up high and unreachable in the courtyard, now forms the foundation of God’s dwelling place.  This place was a whole other world, regal in nature.  Even the frame was overlaid with gold, against a backdrop of red, with blue, purple and scarlet  embroidery.  The incredible splendor of God's home was obvious inside and out.
Exodus 37:23 The Lampstand:
Made from pure gold, the metal of God, the lampstand was a symbol of the Holy Spirit and provided light to show the way to a restored relationship with God.
Exodus 37:10-16 The Table:
This table and all of its utensils are also gold.  Perhaps because they represent the body and blood of God the Son.  Notice, you have to pass between the table and the lampstand to enter through the curtain into the presence of God.
Exodus 37:25-28 The Alter of Incense:
Made out of pure gold again, this alter was placed in front of the curtain, the entrance to the Most Holy Place.  Only the High Priest could make atonement  on its horns, and only once a year.  The entrance of the Most Holy Place was blocked by this alter until Jesus, our High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, offered a sacrifice, once for all.  It was then that the curtain was torn from top to bottom which opened the way  to the Mercy Seat of God.
Exodus 37:1-7 The Ark:
“pure gold, both inside and out”  “the atonement cover of pure gold”.
Revelation 21:15-21  The City of God:
The city and its streets were pure gold.  Even the measuring rod was gold.
